Volunteer at Wharton Dual Language Academy

At Wharton Dual Language Academy, parent and community volunteers are an essential part of our school’s success. Your time, energy, and support help create a positive and enriching environment for students, teachers, and families. Whether you can volunteer regularly or every now and then, every bit of help makes a difference!

Why Volunteers Matter

Volunteers bring our school community to life! From helping at events to supporting teachers and students, volunteers:

  • Strengthen the connection between home and school

  • Help enrich our programs and campus culture

  • Provide valuable support during school events and activities

  • Foster a welcoming, caring environment for all

We’ll be inviting families to support in a variety of ways throughout the year, including:

  • Field trip chaperones

  • Helping with school-wide events and celebrations

  • Assisting with classroom activities, campus projects, and more

How to Become a Volunteer

Wharton follows Houston ISD’s official volunteer registration process to ensure the safety and security of all students. To volunteer on campus or during school events, all adults must:

  1. Register through the VIPS (Volunteers in Public Schools) Program on the HISD website:
    👉 www.houstonisd.org/vips

  2. Complete a background check – This process can take 2–3 weeks, so we recommend applying early.

  3. Bring a valid photo ID to the front office once your registration is approved.

Only approved VIPS volunteers may participate in school-day events involving students, including field trips and classroom support.
Reminder: VIPS approval must be renewed every August.
