Community Resources & Family Support

At Wharton Dual Language Academy, we’re committed to supporting the whole child—academically, socially, and emotionally. Our families are always supported, and we’re proud to share a campus-wide resource you can trust. Wharton is honored to be recognized by Houston ISD’s FACE (Family & Community Engagement) Department as a Gold Certified Family Friendly School a distinction that reflects our deep commitment to fostering strong partnerships between families and educators. 

Meet Ms. Barbara Banks

Our At-Risk Coordinator, Ms. Barbara Banks, is here for students and families. She:

  • Connects students to counselors and emotional support services

  • Helps provide clothing, hygiene essentials, school supplies, and uniforms

  • Facilitates access to community-based resources (e.g., mental health, family services)

  • Supports families through transitions or challenges

  • Leads our SEL (Social–Emotional Learning) program, including organizing school-wide assemblies and events focused on kindness, resilience, and empathy

Parents are often invited to these SEL assemblies be on the lookout for invitations and announcements sent home throughout the year!
