Technology at Wharton Dual Language Academy
At Wharton Dual Language Academy, we believe technology plays a vital role in preparing students to be global thinkers, inquirers, and communicators. We integrate technology across all grade levels to support high-quality instruction, research, and learning experiences.
Classroom Technology Integration
-
All students in 2nd–8th grade have daily access to individual classroom computers for instructional use.
-
Students use educational platforms such as IXL, Summit K-12, Zearn, and Reading A to Z to support reading, math, science, and language development during intervention and small group time.
-
Technology is also used to support research projects, inquiry-based learning, and IB transdisciplinary units of inquiry.
Dedicated Technology Instruction
-
Students in Kindergarten through 8th grade attend a Technology Ancillary class, where they explore STEM-based projects, develop digital literacy, and extend their research skills using various tools and programs.
-
Teachers and students also have access to two fully equipped computer labs for whole-class activities, testing, and enrichment opportunities.
Laptop Usage and Policies
-
Wharton students do not take laptops home as regular homework does not require a device.
-
Middle school students (6th–8th) may request to check out a laptop for extended learning (e.g., accessing learning apps from home).
-
A parent/guardian must complete a Technology Request and Responsibility Form.
-
Families are financially responsible for lost or damaged devices and may be required to replace them.
